SYDNEY MARDI GRAS 2021
SNEAKY SOUND SYSTEM
PRESENTED BY SALESFORCE
Wil Sabin Entertainment was contracted by Fernando Barraza Creative to choreograph and direct a bespoke headline performance for the 2021 Sydney Gay and
Lesbian Mardi Gras.
The epic performance featured Aussie pop star Connie Mitchell performing her iconic Sneaky Sound System hit
and triple platinum record "UFO."
The event was held for the very first time away from
Oxford Street at the world renowned stadium " The SCG"
to over 45,000 live spectators and televised live by network SBS to over 1 Million Viewers.
Fernando acted as creative director on the performance for the production company INVNT.
We worked with 40 Salesforce team members to perform in the parade with Connie for several weeks creating unique and eye catching, choreography. All of the performers were non professional dancers so we wanted to make it as fun and exciting for them as possible.
This event was during the COVID19 Pandemic so logistically had a-lot of challenges from rehearsals through to the performance, making sure everything was Covid Safe and to government regulations.
The performance was also a surprise from the public so all rehearsals were top secret through to the live TV performance.
We worked with Jeep Management on casting for all talent and cast Chris Haines and Lochy Thomas for the performance. We really wanted to showcase strong visual shapes with the movement.
We created rehearsal videos with direction for camera plotting in advance to our tech / camera rehearsals for SBS.
Hair and make up was done by Emma from The Makeup Wardrobe.
We worked with Connie Mitchell on movement and direction for the performance and had incredible feedback from herself and her management on the entire process.
The performance was televised live on SBS to over 1 Million viewers and had incredible feedback from critics around the globe!
Happy Mardi Gras 2021!!
